A man facing two manslaughter charges following a multi-vehicle crash north of Townsville has had his case briefly mentioned in court.

Ayden McLennan is also charged with possession of a dangerous drug and other offences, after his Toyota Landcruiser crashed into a line of stationary traffic on the Bruce Highway near Mutarnee on June 23.
Holly Stewart in her Mazda 3 died instantly, with her car then travelling into a Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Daniel Mitchell, who was also killed.
McLennan, 31, of Townsville, was arrested at the scene while police allegedly found 25g of methamphetamine inside his vehicle.
His counsel told Townsville Magistrates Court on Thursday the Director of Public Prosecutions accepted an ex-officio indictment to bypass a committal hearing.
"Hopefully the matter will be finalised this year," Andrew Peel said.
But had the matter was adjourned until January 13.
